The Central Government

The Spaniards established different Spanish institutions to administer the archipelago. These included a highly organized colonial government composed of the central government and the local government. The central government was the highest administrative authority during Spanish period in the Philippines. The central government directed the affairs of the entire colony from Intramuros, Manila where the Spanish government was seated.
